Unpaid carers across Devon are being encouraged to stay informed as changes are made to how carer support services are delivered from 1 October.
From that date, carers’ assessments, reviews and the Carers Helpline will be brought in-house and delivered directly by Devon County Council. Peer support and carer ambassador services will continue to be provided by local organisations, with new contracts being commissioned. The £2.3 million budget for these services is being maintained, and the same range of support and advice will continue to be offered.
Please note: the Carers Alert Line is currently not working. Until the new service is fully in place, carers are strongly encouraged to share their emergency contact details with as many family members and friends as possible, in case something untoward happens to them.
